The New York Asian Film Foundation (NYAFF) is a leading 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to discovering, championing, and presenting new Asian cinema from Asia and its diasporas. Through year-round public programs and events, NYAFF connects artists, audiences, and industry—building enduring cultural bridges between Asia and America.
Founded in 2002, the Foundation’s flagship program, the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), has grown into North America’s premier festival dedicated to contemporary Asian cinema. Since 2010, the festival has been presented in collaboration with Film at Lincoln Center, bringing world premieres, landmark discoveries, and essential new voices to New York audiences each summer.
NYAFF is recognized internationally for its curatorial rigor and early discovery. The festival has consistently introduced filmmakers at pivotal moments in their careers, presenting films that span independent innovation, popular cinema, and emerging movements across Asia and the Asian diaspora. Many films screened at NYAFF go on to secure international distribution, establishing the festival as a trusted platform generating global attention.
At its core, the New York Asian Film Foundation exists to ensure that new Asian cinema is seen, shared, and celebrated—expanding cultural understanding, amplifying new voices, and positioning Asian cinema as an essential force in global film culture.
