Benny Chan’s magnum opus is an epic period piece that boasts a who’s who of Hong Kong action cinema, with choreography by Sammo Hung and starring Sean Lau, Louis Koo, Eddie Peng and Wu Jing. Cao Shao Lun (Koo), is a powermad warlord who kills and robs his own citizens. When he is jailed for a triple homicide, his powerful General father threatens to massacre the whole town if his son is not released. This sets in motion a fascinating lattice of intrigue and action with those who want to rescue Cao on one side, and those who want him punished for his vicious inhumanity on the other.

This special screening is a tribute to the great producer/director Benny Chan, who just passed away on August 23rd.
