Dear Loneliness

致親愛的孤獨者

Available: Aug. 28 - Sept. 12, All USA

A three-pronged drama of innocence and experience, Dear Loneliness tracks the paths of three young women on the brink of adult life, as they teeter and tangle with disconnection. Discreetly bound together by the same bookstore, as if their lives were some sort of literature, each of them goes their lonely way, facing different predicaments but a similar plight of yearnings thwarted: A schoolgirl fantasizes about her teacher; a freshman finds her dorm room occupied; a twentysomething ekes out a living off flirtatious visits to lovelorn inmates.

Stirrings of “too much too soon” show us how they meet the world head on and learn the roughness of the real, in a poignant film that reveals the talent of three young directors selected through Dreamland’s Storylab, established to support independent visual storytellers. Indeed, a new generation is born, who gives us, in the words of the Taipei Times: “captivating, realistic storylines that are poetic yet so poignant and relatable that it almost hurts”
