When people disappear in an inexplicable flash of light one morning in a small city in central China, ordinary couples start reevaluating their relationships. The plot thickens when it is revealed the mysterious disappearances are a countrywide occurrence, and maybe even a global phenomenon. Scientists struggle with the decidedly non-scientific theory that the vanished were people who were in love, leaving the rest behind.
