Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom

Available: Aug. 28 - Sept. 12, New York State ONLY

Would-be musician Ugyen begrudgingly accepts an assignment to teach children at the remotest school on earth. Throughout his long journey to nowhere he regrets his decision. Yet once he comes to know the locals, including the studious yak, Ugyen slowly absorbs the sublimity of nature. Renowned Bhutanese photographer and spiritual thinker Pawo Choyning Dorji has crafted a transcendent journey of introspection and enlightenment. Imbued with fish-out-of-water humor, fleeting romance and ethnographic eloquence, this lyrical film is the next best thing to actually being there.
