The Monkey King

Inspired by the epic Ming Dynasty classic "Journey to the West," quite possibly the most popular Chinese tale of all time, and executive produced by Stephen Chow, The Monkey King is an action-packed animated comedy featuring the titular trickster, played by Jimmy O. Yang, who battles demons and dragons... and his greatest foe – his own ego. Armed with his living magic staff, the godling monkey embarks on a quest to defeat 100 demons and no less than the Dragon King (Bowen Yang, of SNL fame). Along comes Lin, a young village girl (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport), who challenges Monkey's navel-gazing worldview and teaches him the value of compassion. The ensemble voice cast spans a wide spectrum of Asian American talents, from Jo Koy and BD Wong to Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and many more.
