Fly Me to the Moon

但願人長久

Rising filmmaker Sasha Chuk wrote, directed and stars in this acclaimed feature debut adapted from her own semi-autographical novella. Starting in 1997, a turning point in Hong Kong history, the narrative spans two turbulent decades in the lives of two Hunanese sisters. As young girls, they move to Hong Kong with their mother to reunite with their father. Their hopes for a bright future in the bustling metropolis are soon all but dashed by his criminal lifestyle. Undaunted, they navigate the tempestuous waters of immigration, adolescence, and the search for self in a city caught between two worlds. Produced by Stanley Kwan and featuring a heart-wrenching turn by Wu Kang-ren (Abang Adik, NYAFF 2023 Uncaged Award Winner for Best Film) as the delinquent dad, and a breakthrough performance by newcomer Yoyo Tse, Fly Me to the Moon is a stunning achievement that marks the arrival of a major new talent in world cinema.
