For the first time ever, NYAFF presents a cine-concert assembled by Tony Bui, the director of Three Seasons, from scenes drawn across the history of Vietnamese cinema, eras, styles, and generations edited into one continuous arc. The montage follows the shape of a single human life, moving through childhood, first love, war, loss, survival, return, age, and renewal. An original score, arranged from the films’ own soundtracks and performed live, binds the images together so that separate works become one experience. Conductor Trần Nhật Minh and violinist Bùi Công Duy, both leading figures in Vietnam’s classical music world, will be traveling from Southeast Asia to perform.
