A Story about Fire

燃比娃

In this captivating animated tale five years in the making, a monkey raised among humans embarks on a sacred quest to restore warmth to his tribe. Following his mother’s footsteps, he journeys to the Holy Mountain, braving treacherous peaks and the terrifying “beast of fear.” Along the way, he makes an unexpected friend and retrieves the fire stone—but at a transformative cost. Loosely based on an ancient Qiang myth, this beautiful story features vivid, hand-drawn Chinese ink-wash animation that becomes increasingly colorful as the narrative unfolds. Blending minimalism with philosophical depth, it poetically explores themes of change, identity, and survival, creating a memorable and emotionally resonant fable.
