Unexpected Courage

我們意外的勇氣

Offering a fresh perspective on mature love under pressure, Unexpected Courage transforms its nearly single setting into the film’s emotional core, balancing gentle humor with raw honesty. Director Shawn Yu draws on personal experience in this absorbing drama about forty-something talent manager Love (René Liu) and her younger partner Born (Hsueh Shih-Ling), a commercial director, as they confront an unforeseen crisis. Haunted by familial trauma and held in limbo by their age gap, the couple must finally face their future. Liu’s luminous, grounded performance, supported by realistic dialogue and a gifted ensemble, anchors a narrative that quietly affirms vulnerability as its own kind of strength.
