Dog Day Evening
A man is mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. Feeling alone with his grievance and facing the city’s worst customer service, he makes a sudden drastic choice, taking staff and customers hostage, and making one demand: he wants to cancel his cable subscription. Because apparently, this requires escalation. Mak Tin-shu, Hong Kong Film Awards-winning screenwriter of Trivisa and Detective vs. Sleuths, makes his directing debut with a farce about the pettiest of modern frustrations: the monthly plan that will not die. Byzantine contracts, scripted apologies, and bureaucratic runaround feed the mounting exasperation, until one man’s impossible cancellation request has swallowed the entire workplace. With Michael Ning, Fish Liew, Rachel Leung, Mak Pui-tung, Tse Wing-yan, and Yukki Tai caught in the madness.
