Hope

호프

Ten years after The Wailing, Na Hong-jin returns with his most epic film to date. Hope opens in a sleepy 1990’s harbor village near the DMZ, where word spreads that a tiger has been seen in the hills. But when the thing in the mountains turns towards the village, it becomes clear it's not a tiger. With communication cut-off and reinforcements pulled away to fight wildfires, police chief Bum-seok (Hwang Jung-min) and rookie officer Sung-ae (Hoyeon) are left with villagers too old to run, a motley crew of untrained yet heavily armed hunters, and something in the forest creeping beyond the edge of human comprehension. Call it a monster movie if you want. Hope has other ideas.
