Last Night in Taipei
Six years ago, Blanche, Jake, and Axin were inseparable friends who shared a dream: becoming actors. Then they scattered, and as life has it, they lost touch. Kuo Cheng-chui’s bittersweet drama reunites the three of them by chance on a single night in the heart of Taipei and, in Before Sunrise fashion, gives them just one evening together before the city pulls them apart again. Across that brief window, old affection, buried resentment, and the ache of unfinished youth begin to surface. Kuo keeps the camera close to his three vivid leads and to the neon streets they wander after dark, letting the reunion play out in something close to real time.
