Peninsula

반도

Yeon Sang-ho returns to the world of Train to Busan four years on, with the Korean peninsula now wholly overrun and sealed off from the world. Gang Dong-won stars as Jung-seok, a former soldier who once escaped and is now recruited for a covert mission back inside: find an abandoned truck loaded with cash, grab it, and get out. The mission goes as well as can be expected, and when his team stumbles on a band of survivors, the real danger turns out to be human. Trading the first film’s claustrophobic train for open highways and ruined cityscapes, Yeon stages large-scale vehicular mayhem while maintaining his focus on human behavior under extreme pressure. NYAFF presents this Special Screening as part of the Festival’s spotlight on Yeon Sangho: Apocalypse Architect.
