River Tales
The river gives and the river takes. Along the Ratuwa River, indigenous fishing communities have followed this rhythm for generations, until shifting politics and climate begin transforming their ways of life. Dr. Pankaj Borah’s quiet drama follows Tilou, a fisherman who can no longer feed his family from the river that raised him, and eventually must trade his ancestral land for work in the city built on rules foreign to him. Water is an unyielding force that shapes us, just as family does. Even with no hope in sight, Tilou’s family remain tied to the land, each other, and those that came before them. River Tales is a patient debut that won the NE Spotlight Award at the Guwahati Asian Film Festival.
